Summary
Gives the opinion that "tax harmonization" within the EU has of late been equated, by some member states, with tackling tax competition among them. The resulting process can be defined as an utter waste of time. Not only have scant results been achieved, but the agreement has not had any positive effect on businesses and trade in the completion of the Single Market. Stresses the need to store "tax package" in the treasure chest of memories and to make a fresh start with the active involvement of other parties concerned, such as businesses and tax experts
