Summary
In the UK's negotiations to withdraw from the EU, negotiators will need to ensure that the UK is protected, so far as possible, from the export of EU's tax law and policy, whether the means of export is by agreement or by autonomous measures. This current note examines the possible consequences for the UK from the Brexit regarding the EU tax law and policy. It makes a comparison between the position of Ireland and the UK. It looks at (1) two methods of export: agreements and autonomous action; (2) EU/third state agreements : about more than commerce; and (3) the EU's new external strategy for effective taxation
