- This article gives an overview of the important changes in Slovak tax and social security law. The amendments to the Slovak Income Tax Act, to VAT law and to the Social Security Tax Act, valid as of 1 January 2011, mainly include a change in the VAT rate and a more comprehensive social security tax base also comprising dividends. The concept of a flat personal income tax and corporate income tax of 19% as well as favourable depreciation rates on fixed assets, however, remain unchanged
