- This thesis examines the concept of user participation in value creation from the perspective of the OECD's new nexus rule that will allow countries where users reside (i.e. market countries) to tax a portion of company's profits if it has a "sustained and significant involvement in the economy of a market jurisdiction" irrespective of the company's physical presence therein. The key research question is whether and to what extent users and their engagement contribute to the value creation of digital multi-sided platforms and, if in the affirmative, whether user-generated value can be captured in the market countries under a new nexus rule in the context of a platform-based travel intermediation company Booking.com
