Summary
This paper discusses the taxation aspects of exporting and doing business abroad. The presentation is in four parts. The first part is devoted to the tax aspects of exportation. The second part deals with the tax treatment of various forms of doing business within a foreign country. The third part deals with the consequences of the existence of double taxation agreements and the extent to which such agreements affect foreign tax law with reference to the United Kingdom. In the fourth part, finally, something is said about holding companies and, in general, the utilisation of double taxation agreements in the establishment of a continental European business structure in order to benefit, where possible, from tax advantages which otherwise might not be available to enterprises resident in the United Kingdom
