This article provides an overview of the tax regime applicable for professional team sports players in Slovenia. The first part of the article deals with explanations of the Slovenian sports legal environment and the taxation principles. The second part deals with (I) taxation of player's income from sports activities (salaries, signing-on fees, prize money, bonuses and benefit matches) and (II) taxation of player's income from non-sports (commercial) activities (celebrity endorsements and appearances fees, income from marketing or promotional activities, sponsorship income, image rights payments)
