- Summary
- International and regional organizations are playing an increasingly important role in the tax world. Yet few outside a small group of government officials understand the structures and roles of these organizations or how to interact with them. This article tries to answer three questions: 1) Who are the main players in the international tax arena? 2) What are their structures and areas of work, and who are their contact points? 3) How can business and civil society interact with different groupings? It focuses on the four main international organizations that play a key role in taxation (the United Nations, the IMF, the World Bank, and the OECD) and four regional organizations (the African Tax Administration Forum (ATAF), the Intra-European Organisation of Tax Administrations (IOTA), the Inter-American Center of Tax Administrations (CIAT), and the European Union
